Amplify Her celebrates the burgeoning power of women who create electronic dance music. EDM concerts are a transcendent group experience of sound, light, and movement led predominantly by male DJ’s. But this is changing. Through unique stage personae such as Blondtron, Lux Moderna, and AppleCat, female artists are exploring their music, sexuality, and spirituality. The local filmmakers convey the wild originality of the DJ’s with graphic-novel-inspired animated sequences, mesmerizing concert footage, and a delectable sound track. But they also show us the women off-stage, dealing with business and personal issues that will provoke thought about gender and the future of femininity.
