ABOUT THE FILM
Oscar-nominated for Faces Places (Visages villages) – which we screened last year – filmmaker Agnès Varda (1928–2019) pioneered the experimental New Wave movement with her late husband, Jacques Demy. In this elegant retrospective of an enchanting elder, the revered Grande Dame of French Cinema conducts a master class to a live audience, playfully examining her unorthodox artistic process and her idiosyncratic 64-year career, illustrated with excerpts from her 50+ films and scenes from her immersive, cinema-themed installations. Cheerfully inquisitive until her death last year at 90, Varda is truly an inspiration for remaining perpetually creative and passionate about art and life.
