ABOUT THE FILM

Having bought a discounted “Made in China” Halloween decoration at an Oregon Kmart, Julie Keith was astounded to find a handwritten SOS letter hidden inside, which political prisoner Sun Yi had sent from the notoriously brutal Masanjia Labour Camp. In this real-life thriller, award-winning filmmaker Leon Lee found a way to contact Sun Yi and taught him to take secret-camera footage via Skype, exposing the harrowing persecution of Falun Gong and – miraculously – leading to the abolition of China’s entire labour camp system. Winner of multiple Audience Awards and named Best Documentary at the St. Louis International Film Festival.

Director Leon Lee & Associate Producer Jacey Shi in attendance.
