ABOUT THE FILM

Fredericton artist Mary Pratt (1935–2018) was a singular talent, although her life was a complicated act of delicate rebellion. Fascinated with domesticity, Pratt transformed ordinary objects into exquisite art through her hyperrealist techniques and her inimitable treatment of light. Capturing Pratt’s droll humour, inner strength and subversive spirit, this fulsome tribute examines her underrated feminist significance as an unrepentant chronicler of women’s everyday experiences, and her preternatural ability to imbue otherwise mundane scenes with radiant sensuality. This alluring and overdue tribute won Best Documentary and Audience Choice Awards at the Nickel Independent Film & Video Festival in St. John’s.
