ABOUT THE FILM

Would you work full-time for months on end for free? Young, unemployed and frustrated, New Zealand filmmaker Leo David Hyde accepted an unpaid internship with the United Nations, where – unable to afford housing – he settled into a small blue tent by Lake Geneva and proceeded to document the experience in an act of gonzo filmmaking, which sparked a global press storm. Profiling the emerging movement for intern rights, this outrageous exposé on the disheartening exploitation of unpaid labour won DOXA’s Nigel Moore Award for Youth Programming and was named Best New Zealand Feature at New Zealand’s Documentary Edge Festival.
