ABOUT THE FILM
In the 1950’s Inuit were forcibly relocated to key far north areas to protect Canadian sovereignty, coexisting uneasily with Mounties on isolation duty. In 1968, a curious youth took his camera north to record the beauty and seek a mystical connection. He discovered passionate Inuit devoted to restoring their culture and taking charge of their future. After hearing the fascinating story, seeing stunning scenery, and witnessing the wisdom and good humour of the activists, we rejoice with them that in 1999 “the largest territorial revisioning on earth” created Nunavut and restored dominion to the Inuit, now voluntary stewards of “Our Land”.
