You, Me and the SPP - Trading Democracy

This film examines the Security Prosperity Partnership (SPP) and the Trade Investment and the Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA). These trade agreements are undermining, eroding and eliminating standards, civil liberties, regulatory systems and institutions put in place over generations through the democratic process. Proponents of these agreements argue that they are needed to improve trade by removing barriers which impede the free flow of goods and services both inter-provincially and between the NAFTA countries. Opponents equate them to a corporate coup d'etat that is weakening the democratic authority of the citizens of North America and the sovereignty of Canada.
